Elmhurst Fire Department Receives $1,500 Grant from Illinois American Water

Money will be used to buy equipment for training purposes.

On June 17, Elmhurst Fire Department received a $1,500 grant from Illinois American Water to replace a smoke generating machine that will be used for training purposes.

Illinois American Water has awarded about $58,000 to 51 fire departments across the state. The grants provide personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training materials and classroom programs.Β 

Illinois American Water is a subsidiary of American Water, an investor-owned water utility,Β and provides water and wastewater services to more than 1.2 million people in Illinois.Β American Water is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a year-long campaign to promote water efficiency and the importance of protecting water from source to tap.
