Elmhurst Cops Rescue Abandoned Puppy Left in Box, Charge Owner With Neglect: Police

The woman, who was leaving the country, did pen a note asking whoever found her pet to "please take care of the dog," police said.

An Elmhurst woman boxed up her dog and abandoned it since she was planning to leave the country, police said.

The woman, Yeohsy Koh, 47, of 355 W. First St., was charged with animal neglect after an officer reportedly found her dog in a box on North Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The officer also discovered a "note stating to please take care of the dog," police said.

The officer reportedly linked Koh to the dog and tracked her down through a microchip implanted in the animal.

"The owner stated she is leaving out of the country tomorrow morning and did not know what else to do with the dog," police said.

Koh signed her dog over to DuPage County Animal Control, police said.
