Elmhurst Police Hunt Armed Robbery Suspect in Lombard, Man Arrested for Soliciting Sex

And, missing person found unconscious.

Armed Robbery

Elmhurst police and their K-9 unit were dispatched twice Sunday night to assist other agencies. At 9:40 p.m., they were dispatched to Lombard to assist in the tracking of a suspect after an armed robbery at 9:40 p.m. Jan. 6. The robbery was reported at the 7-Eleven at Crescent and St. Charles Road, near Interstate 355. The suspect was seen running westbound.

At 9:46 p.m. the same night, Elmhurst police were dispatched to Villa Park to assist with a call for shots fired at Motel 6, 10 W. Roosevelt Road. No weapon or shell casings were discovered, according to a police report. Police did not indicate if the two cases were related.

Solicitation of a Sex Act

Thomas D. Sims, 28, 275 W. North Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with solicitation of a sex act after police discovered a Craigslist advertisement for someone looking to pay for sexual acts. Police said they exchanged multiple emails with Sims, who agreed to meet at the Waverton Hotel, 841 N. York Road, at 8:43 p.m. Jan. 4. He was released on I-bond.

Domestic Battery

Michael D. Lahaye, 35, 5020 N. Mango, Chicago, was arrested and charged with domestic battery on the 500 block of West North Avenue at 12:55 p.m. Jan. 5. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Missing Person Found

A female reported missing out of Elgin was found unconscious in a hotel room on the 300 block of North Route 83 at 2:05 a.m. Jan. 6. She was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
