The Elmhurst police said an officer tried to help a vomiting man but saw nothing in the way of cooperation and even got pushed by some other guy.

The officer happened upon the vomiting man—Frank Kekstadt, 36, of 516 S. Illinois Ave. in Villa Park—in a South York Street alley about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

"The officer attempted to assist (Kekstadt) who refused to move," police said.

Then, a misguided Good Samaritan, 37-year-old Jonathan Coan of 475 S. Arlington Ave. in Elmhurst, "came to (Kekstadt's) aid after (the officer) told him to back away," police said.

Coan "attempted to push past (the officer) and was subsequently taken into custody," police said. Kekstadt "attempted to break away from (the officer) and was also taken into custody."

Kekstadt was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting police. Coan was charged with obstructing a police officer. Both men were released on bond.

Billy Joel - I never said the police should ignore this. I appreciate what the Elmhurst police do for our community but at 11:45 on a Friday night this may have been able to be handled differently so police officers don't have to be in the station booking a couple of middle aged men and filling out arrest reports. Also if they were drunk, then one or both would have been charged with Public Intoxication too.
