The Elmhurst cops continued cracking down on bicyclists, this time arresting a man who was pedaling around at night without a light, police said.

Donte Mitchell, 23, of 718 N. Michigan St. was taken into custody shortly after 2 a.m. Friday near the corner of York Street and Crestview Avenue.

An officer who stopped Mitchell for cycling without a light discovered there was a DuPage County warrant out for his arrest, police said. The warrant charged Mitchell with failing to appear in court.

Mitchell was taken to the police station and transported to the DuPage County jail.

While Mitchell may have been a wanted man, he at least was not drunk or falling off his bike.

They sure didn't stop him because of a light.

A light is 100% necessary in his case, its hard to see black people in the dark.

Every adult riding a bike could be arrested. I've always told my loved ones "stay the H away from grown men on bikes." Anyone who's lived a day downtown should know that. Just visit www.heyisthatmystolenbike.com or www.doyouhaveareceiptforthatride.com
