Elmhurst Cops Arrest 2 After Scuffle at Used Car Lot

The couple was in a stolen car and one squared off with the cops, police said.

A Chicago couple was arrested after a dustup at a used car dealership Wednesday afternoon.

An officer sent to M&L Imports about noon to settle a customer dispute ran a check on a black Mazda CX-7 and found out it was stolen, police said.

The officer also reportedly determined one of the people who arrived with the vehicle, 27-year-old Saadia Thomas of 13237 S. Riverdale Ave., had a couple warrants out for her arrest. And from there, things reportedly just got worse.

After telling Thomas she was being taken into custody, "she became combative and a physical altercation ensued, which resulted in her arrest," police said.

"While dealing with Thomas," police said, a man in the Mazda, 21-year-old Sherman Darnell Boyd of 11025 S. Esmond St. "exited the vehicle and started fighting with (the) officer, striking (the) officer several times."

So Boyd was arrested too. He was charged with the aggravated battery of a police officer and transported to the DuPage County jail.

Thomas was reportedly taken to the Oak Lawn Police Department on the warrants and as part of an auto theft investigation. Thomas was then booked into the Cook County Jail.
