Elks Club Bartender Skimmed Beer Sales: Cops
The bartender was selling bottles of beer and keeping the money for herself, police said.
An Elks Club bartender pocketed the money from bottled beer sales, police said.
The bartender, 54-year-old Karen Merker of 37 N. Ardmore Ave. in Villa Park, was charged with theft in connection with the 3 p.m. Wednesday racket at the Elmhurst Elks.
An unidentified person went to the cops on Merker and told them she was "selling bottles of beer without ringing them into the register and then taking the money for herself," police said.
Merker "admitted to taking the money without permission," police said.
Merker was released on bond.
