DuPage DUI Arrests, Sept. 1 Edition

Aug. 27: James A. Dollard, of the 1400 block of Arrow Wood Lane, Downers Grove, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. on the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue. Dollard was charged with DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol with a BAC greater than .08, endangering the life and health of a child and improper lane usage. His silver Mercury Mountaineer was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has an Oct. 2 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 24: Karl W. Tumaitis, of the 4400 block of Wilson Avenue, Downers Grove, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. at Prairie and Middaugh. Tumaitis was charged with DUI alcohol and disobeying a traffic control signal. His black Hyundai Accent was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released after posting $100 and his driver's license and has an Oct. 2 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 19: Jesse N. Mcnichol, of the first block of West Fountainhead Drive, Westmont, was arrested at 6:16 a.m. on the 400 block of 63rd Street. Mcnichol was charged with DUI alcohol and DUI alcohol with a BAC greater than .08. His silver Acura 3.2cl was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 25 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 18: Taylor S. Atchison, of the 2300 block of Sunshine Lane, Aurora, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. at 63rd and Main streets. Atchison was charged with DUI alcohol, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, squealing tires and speeding. His white Pontiac G6 was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 18 court date in Wheaton.

Aug. 16: Bryn M. Lofton, of the 1N100 block of Franklin, Carol Stream, was arrested at 6:23 p.m. at Ogden Avenue and Main Street. Lofton was charged with DUI alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Her silver Chevrolet Malibu was towed from the scene to an impound lot, according to a police report. She was released on an I-bond and has a Sept. 18 court date in Wheaton.

ELMHURST

Aug. 25:

  • Pawel Ciochon, 22, of the 400 block of North Addison, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI after his silver Acura TL was stopped at a roadside safety checkpoint at Lake and Church at 4 a.m. He also was charged with resisting arrest and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released on bond.
  • Vidal Funez, 21, of the 1000 block of Ferrari Drive, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after the vehicle he was driving was involved in an accident with a 31-year-old Bensenville man at Lake and Grand at 2:35 a.m. He was released on bond.
  • Lindsay Krafft, 21, of the 5500 block of Abbey, Lisle, was arrested and charged with DUI after police stopped her red Chevrolet Cobalt as part of a roadside safety check at Lake and Church at 1:44 a.m. She was released on bond.
  • Matthew Pokorny, 21, of the 500 block of Arlene, Wood Dale, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after police pulled over his silver Toyota Solara as part of a roadside safety check at Lake and Church at 12:12 a.m. Police said he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and admitted to smoking cannabis. He was released on bond.

Aug. 24:

  • Nancy Blagg, 57, of the 400 block of Verret, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a valid license after police pulled over her brown Mercury Sable for improper lane use and failure to signal at Route 83 and St. Charles Road at 1:52 a.m. She was released on bond.
  • Charles Cowans, 31, of the 1400 block of Apache Drive, Hanover Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his black Cadillac CTS for speeding and improper lane use at Interstate 290 and York at 1:50 a.m. He was released on bond.

GLEN ELLYN

Aug. 16: Benito Olivares-Lopez, 24, of the first block of Sunset Avenue, Glen Ellyn, and Gerson C. Gomez, 29, of the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue, Addison, were each charged with illegal transportation of alcohol. Olivares-Lopez and Gomez were arrested at 9:53 p.m. at Sunset Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Olivares-Lopez was also charged with DUI, no driver's license and improper turn at intersection, police said.

Aug. 14: Kenneth J. Lawson, 31, of the 22W700 block of Armitage Avenue, Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence. Lawson was arrested at 5:59 a.m. on Park Avenue at the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

HINSDALE

Aug. 17: Benjamin Dahlin, 30, of the 5000 block of Concord Lane, Clarendon Hills, was charged with the following:

  • DUI alcohol
  • DUI with a BAC over .08
  • No insurance
  • Speeding

Dahlin was initially pulled over at 10:12 p.m. for speeding at 55th Street and Holmes, police said. He took a portable breath test, which indicated his BAC was over .08. Dahlin was then transported to a hospital, according to police.

Aug. 12: Arturo Sosa-Lopez, 21, of the 200 block of North Richmond, Clarendon Hills, was arrested at 3:52 a.m. in a parking lot outside his residence. He was charged with the following:

  • DUI alcohol
  • DUI with a BAC over .08
  • No insurance
  • No driver's license
  • No headlights

Sosa-Lopez took a portable breath test, which indicated his BAC was over .08, according to police. He was released on I-bond.

LEMONT

Aug. 22: Tom E. Canfield, 58, of the 13500 block of Archer Avenue, Lemont, was arrested at 3:21 p.m. following a traffic stop on the 1300 block of State Street. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal transportation of alcohol. Canfield was issued a Sept. 13 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Also arrested at the scene was Hermelinda Fernandez-Aguirre, 37, of the 400 block of Harwood Street, Joliet. She was charged with no valid driver's license and issued a Sept. 17 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

Aug. 21: Linas Siaulys, 32, of the 14800 block of High Road, Lockport, was arrested at 12:06 a.m. following a traffic stop at Archer Avenue and State Street. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and no insurance. Siaulys was issued a Sept. 13 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

WHEATON

July 16: Police charged Tracy R. Heinekamp, 51, of the first block of Ott Avenue, Glen Ellyn, with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis. Heinekamp was driving a dark blue 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport at 7:19 a.m. at Lorraine and Trent when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 14:

  • Police charged Joshua W. Becker, 28, of the 1100 block of Underwood Terrace, Wheaton, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Becker was driving a dark green 1996 Saturn DGR at 2:24 a.m. at President and Wilson when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released at his residence later that morning.
  • Police charged Michael J. Oskroba, 43, of the 3600 block of Timberlake Drive, Joliet, with driving under the influence of alcohol. Oskroba was driving a gray 2006 Dodge Ram at 1:59 a.m. at Bloomingdale and Geneva Road when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

July 13: Police charged Joshua W. Hertz, 26, of the 3S500 block of Melcher Avenue, Warrenville, with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting an officer and illegal transportation of an alcoholic liquor. Hertz was driving a black 2010 GMC Terrain at 2:42 a.m. at Butterfield Road and Cree when police initiated a traffic stop. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and then transferred to the DuPage County Jail, where he was later released.
