DUI Roundup: Nov. 3 Edition

Driving-under-the-influence charges reported in the week prior to Nov. 2 in Patch towns throughout the west suburbs.

BATAVIA

OCT. 25: Batavia police arrested Dennis R. Herren, 31, of Batavia on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a stop sign, failure to signal when required, driving in the wrong lane, disobeying a stop sign, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, felony aggravated battery and a misdemeanor charge of resisting a police officer, according to a report filed at 12:17 a.m. at the Batavia Police Department, 100 N. Island Ave., reports said. Herren was transported to Kane County Jail.

DARIEN

OCT. 4: Michael Deckys, 44, of the 1000 block of Hinsbrook in Darien, was charged with driving under the influence, parking illegally and driving the wrong way. Police stopped him at 1:31 a.m. near 75th Street and Clarendon Hills Road.

SEPT. 29: David Basa, 18, of the 0-100 block of Sylvan Glen Court in Burr Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating uninsured motor vehicle and damage to property following an accident at 12:38 a.m. in the 3100 block of Brewer.

ELMHURST

OCT 27:

  • Jeffrey Hermes, 30, 790 N. Van Auken, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his silver Toyota for speeding, improper lane use and failure to signal on the 500 block of West Lake Street at 12:46 a.m. He was released on bond.
  • Yolanda Sutton, 41, 4128 W. Wilcox, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and driving with an unsafe tire after police pulled over her silver Volkswagon Beetle for driving on a flat tire at Lake and Church at 12:50 a.m. Police said Sutton damaged the front driver-side rim. She was released on bond.
  • Gerald Rowan, 44, 1135 Linden, Bellwood, was arrested and charged with DUI after he pulled over his white Cadillac DTS at Lake and Walnut at 1:03 a.m., while police were arresting another driver in the area. He was released on bond.
  • Ilija Gjorgiev, 24, 264 E. Bailey, Naperville, was arrested and charged with DUI after police received a call for a drunken driver at Route 83 and Lake Street at 2:10 a.m. The witness told police dispatchers that Gjorgiev’s gray Buick Rendevous was speeding and weaving in its own lane. Gjorgiev was released on bond.
  • Daniel L. Stuckey, 30, 1006 Lyford, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with DUI after police stopped for a motorist assist at Route 83 and Second Street at 5:45 a.m. Police said Stuckey was in a green Lexus, which was released to a valid driver at the scene. Stuckey was released on bond.

GENEVA

OCT. 27: Geneva police arrested Joseph Runde, 29, of St. Charles on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more after a traffic stop at around 5:01 a.m. in the 600 block of South Third Street, reports said. Runde has a court date of Nov. 13 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

GLEN ELLYN

OCT. 17: Robert Chocolate, 56, 1431 Haverhill, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled him over for improper lane use at Roosevelt and Parkside at 10:42 p.m.

OCT. 16: Kimberly D. Demeo, 34, 22W574 Sycamore St., Glen Ellyn, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled her over for improper lane use at Duane and Park Boulevard at 12:41 a.m.

OCT. 14: Miguel Mendiola-Martinez, 35, 1175 Surrey Drive, Glen Ellyn, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on the 1100 block of Surrey Drive at 2:46 a.m.

LEMONT

OCT. 27:

  • Mark Matan, 39, 1216 Country Lane, Lemont, was arrested at 1:47 a.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and improper lane usage following a traffic stop at McCarthy Road and Julia Street. He was issued a Dec. 4 court date at the Bridgeview Court House.
  • Ann M. Hunziker, 24, 25 Sawgrass Drive, Lemont, was arrested at 3:19 a.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage following a traffic stop at 127th Street and Hillview Drive. She was issued a Dec. 2 court date at the Bridgeview Court House.

OCT. 26: Catherine V. Languido, 23, 417 Freehauf St., Lemont, was arrested at 1:26 a.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and improper lane usage following a traffic stop in the 12400 lock of Archer Avenue. She was issued a Dec. 4 court date at the Bridgeview Court House.

OCT. 20: Scott D. Staudt, 27, 11808 Hillcrest Drive, Lemont, was arrested at 3:34 a.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without lights when required following a traffic stop in the 400 block of Talcott Avenue. He was issued a Dec. 2 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

ST. CHARLES

OCT. 27: Kelly K. McGroarty, 39, of the 900 block of Prairie Street, was charged at 1:19 a.m. on the 500 block of Prairie Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08, and improper lane use. Police said her blood-alcohol concentration was .106. She was released on her own recognizance pending a Nov. 21, 2013 court appearance.

OCT. 26: Jason Nathaniel Jones, 33, of the 2100 block of Maple Avenue, Hanover Park, was charged at 10:58 p.m. on the 2000 block of West Main Street with DUI, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08, and speeding-53 in a 35 mph zone. Police said his blood-alcohol concentration registered at .135. He posted his driver’s license and was released on his own recognizance pending a Nov. 21, 2013 court appearance.

OCT. 23: Jennifer A. Benjamin, 41, of the 39W100 block of Longmeadow Lane, was charged at 10:43 p.m. on the 1300 block of West Main Street with DUI, and speeding-42 in a 30 mph zone. She was released on her own recognizance pending a Nov. 21, 2013 court appearance.

WHEATON

OCT. 27: Lekani Nicole Sylaimana, 21, of the 5000 block of Ring Court, Hanover Park, was charged at 1:29 a.m. on the 100 block of West Willow Street on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, and no driver’s license. She posted bail and was released.

OCT.. 26: Brandon Collins, 18, of the 1100 block of Rhodes Court, Wheaton, was charged at 2:35 p.m. at Prospect Court and Prospect Street with driving under the influence of drugs, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and no insurance. He posted bail and was released.
