Drag Racing, Drugs, DUI and Disorderly Conduct Among Arrests Reported in Elmhurst

BB shots fired at house and police find cocaine in suspect's shoe.

DUI Arrests
Francis J. Melion, 41, 212 W. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane use and failure to yield after police stopped his silver Dodge Grand Caravan at 1:25 a.m. Sept. 8. When police initially attempted to stop Melion, he failed to yield and continued to drive for more than three blocks until he finally pulled into his driveway. He was released on bond.

Philip A. Stamps, 34, 1304 N. Laramie St. Apt. 1, Chicago, was arrested and charged under local ordinance with DUI, driving with a suspended license, improper lane use and failure to signal after police pulled over his gray Buick Park Avenue at St. Charles and Villa at 3:05 a.m. Sept. 11. He was released on I-bond.

Disorderly Conduct
A resident of the 800 block of South Cambridge told police that when she was leaving her home at 6:52 p.m. Sept. 8, she noticed a gray van parked at the end of her driveway. She saw a male point a BB gun out of the passenger window and fire two shots. She heard one of the subjects in the vehicle say "that's her mom" before speeding away. The victim later saw her daughter's ex-boyfriend in the suspect vehicle. He told police he was not in the area and had nothing to do with the incident. Neither the BB gun nor BBs were found in the vehicle.

Drag Racing/DUI
Jesus Herrera, 27, 5715 Liberty, Indianapolis, Ind., was arrested and charged with drag racing and DUI after police pulled over his silver Chevy Colbalt for doing 75 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone at North and Melrose at 2:25 a.m. Sept. 10. He was released on I-bond.

Possession of a Controlled Substance
Blas Uresti, 36, 3338 Maple Road Apt. 6, Westmont, was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance after police pulled over his white Hyundai Accent for failure to signal and improper lane use at 3:52 a.m. Sept. 10 at Route 83 and Hodges Road. Police also discovered he had a warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear. While at the police station, officers located 2.6 grams of cocaine in his shoe. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Parole Violation
Robert J. Calusinski, 60, 558 W. Babcock, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Sept. 11 at his home. Police assisted the State Department of Corrections by taking him into custody for a parole violation. He was processed on the warrant and taken to DuPage County Jail.
