Don't Start a Fight Over a Sandwich if You're Wanted by Police, and Other Lessons from the Blotter

Warrant Arrest

Jorge Andrade, 30, 1074 Michael Court Apt. 114, Glendale Heights, was arrested on two outstanding warrants out of DuPage County after an incident at Wendy's, 956 N. York Road, at 6 p.m. Dec. 21. Andrade complained that his sandwich was cold and tasted stale, but the manager said there was nothing she could do about that and refused to refund his money, police said. Andrade allegedly became very upset and began "screaming and yelling at her," police said. Police discovered Andrade gave them a false name, so he also was charged with obstructing identification. He was unable to post bond on the warrants and was taken to DuPage County Jail. He also was served a no-trespass order for Wendy's.

Theft

A black iPhone 5 was stolen after the suspect asked an acquaintance if he could use the phone to make a call at 7:45 p.m. Dec. 21. When the victim handed the phone to the suspect, he took off running into the gangway between the townhomes on the 900 block of Virginia Lane. Police were unable to locate the suspect, and his mother was "very uncooperative." The case was forwarded to the detective division.

A white male wearing a black baseball hat, black coat and khaki work pants was seen walking around Elmhurst Memorial Hospital emergency room at 9:17 a.m. Dec. 22. He then was seen in the medic break room taking some food and a newspaper. He was last seen driving toward York Road from the hospital in a white box truck.

Property Damage

A wreath that was hung on a light pole in front of Elmhurst Jaguar, 490 W. Lake Street, fell down and struck a black 2007 Lexus LS 460 that was parked in the lot at 8 a.m. Dec. 21. The wreath, which was placed by the city of Elmhurst, caused several dents and scratches to the hood of the vehicle. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Suspicious person

A resident of the 400 block of Huntington told police that while she was standing in her kitchen, she saw someone try to open the front and side doors of her home. Both doors were locked. She described a small, silver four-door vehicle parked in her driveway. She went upstairs and locked herself in the bathroom and the suspect left the property. Two bags of Christmas cookies were found next to the front door and were taken into evidence. The suspect is described as a white man about 5 feet, 8 inches tall wearing a gray hat and a gray or brown coat.
