Domestic Battery, DUI and Cannabis Arrests Reported Aug. 9-11

Teens also arrested for stealing a bike and possession of cigars.

Domestic Battery

Thomas B. Strusiewicz, 60, 483 S. Argyle #2B, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with domestic battery at his home at 12:21 a.m. Aug. 11. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Jordan G. Banuelos, 21, 594 Hillside Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance, disobeying a traffic control device and no front registration plate after police stopped his black Acura at Addison and First Street at 1:09 a.m. Aug. 11. He was released on I-bond.

Possession of Cannabis

Johnny L. Winston, 24, 421 S. 12th Ave., Maywood, was arrested and charged under local ordinance with possession of cannabis, driving with a suspended license and driving with one headlight after a traffic stop at Roosevelt and York roads at 1:56 a.m. Aug. 9. Police discovered 1.8 grams of cannabis on him. They also learned he was wanted out of Cook County on another driving with a suspended license charge. He was taken to DuPage County Jail on the warrant. A passenger in the car, a 15-year-old girl, reportedly provided officers a false name and date of birth. She was arrested and charged with curfew and disorderly conduct for obstructing a police officer. She was released to her mother on I-bond.

Justin A. Wollenschlager, 19, 320 Concord, Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after his black BMW was pulled over for failure to dim headlights at North and Melrose at 1 a.m. Aug. 11. Passenger Erik Aldava, 19, 1537 N. 17th Ave., Melrose Park, was charged with no seat belt and possession of cannabis. They were released on bond.

Possession of Tobacco by a Minor

A 17-year-old boy tried to buy cigars at Pauli’s Marathon, 110 W. North Ave., at 10:56 a.m. Aug. 9. When told no several times, he began asking other customers outside the store to buy him cigars. When officers approached him, he ran into the CVS Pharmacy next door. Police saw cigars in his back pocket when he was running, but they were gone when police caught up with him. He was charged with possession of tobacco and released.

Arrest for Criminal Damage

Evelyn Ortiz, 38, 345 E. Elm, Villa Park, was charged under city ordinance with damaging property after she allegedly punched and kicked a car during a domestic dispute at 388 W. St. Charles Road at 5:46 p.m. Aug. 10. She was released on I-bond.

Theft Arrest

Four teens were taken into custody after police reportedly saw them attempt to take an unlocked Schwinn bicycle from the bike rack at York Commons Park, 665 S. York Road, at 6:49 p.m. Aug. 11. One of the teens was released to his grandmother on I-bond. The other three suspects were released without charges. All four were served no-trespass orders for York Commons.
