Des Plaines Man Gets Grouchy & Throws Garbage Can When Pal Gets DUI: Cops

A Des Plaines man got irate when the cops were going to tow his car, police said.

A Des Plaines man lost it and tossed a garbage can when he found out his car was getting towed, police said.

Christian Rivera, 24, of 1372 Fargo Ave. was a passenger in a car that was pulled over about 2 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of North and Addison avenues.

The driver, 24-year-old Sagarkumar Patel of 2049 Pine St. in Des Plaines, was charged with driving under the influence and failing to signal. The cops also called for a tow to haul away the Volkswagen Jetta he was driving, and that's what set Rivera off, police said.

Rivera, who apparently owned the Jetta, was "upset about his car being towed and began shouting and cursing," police said.

Rivera "grabbed a garbage can from the driveway they were in front of and threw it to the ground," police said. "He was taken into custody and charged with" disorderly conduct.

Both Rivera and Patel were released on bond.
