Court Watch: Trial Date Set for Elmhurst College Student Charged with Hate Crime

Also, brutal Darien murder case still in the discovery phase after two years.

Here's what we're keeping our eye on in DuPage County courts.

Elmhurst—A May 8 trial date has been set for the Elmhurst College student accused of carving racial epithets into a dorm windowsill. Myles Burton was after the words were found on campus. Burton, who was before posting bond, has to the criminal damage to school property charge. A hate crime allegation was added because of the nature of the graffiti, according to court documents.

Darien—Two years after three members of a Darien family were shot to death inside their home, the case of one of the men accused in the murders remains in the evidence discovery phase. and his attorneys appeared in court April 3 for a status hearing as the defense team continues to build its case against charges Borizov orchestrated the killings with codefendant Jacob Nodarse. but mentally ill to a murder charge last year, and is expected to testify against Borizov when his case goes to trial. Borizov returns to court June 5.

Naperville—A grand jury has indicted a 23-year-old Naperville man on charges he planned to use a pipe bomb to commit arson, court records show. Joseph Schwab was indicted on two counts of possession of an incendiary device related to a March 18 incident at his residence in the 800 block of Naperville Plainfield Road. Schwab had been held on $500,000 bail, but records show he is no longer at the DuPage County Jail.

This is not the first time that I have written a long commentary, directed to sign in, and then watch my comment completely disappear. The patch needs to correct this. Why bother gathering your thoughts, spend time typing, and see it not being posted. Has this happened to anyone else? It does not always disappear and I always follow the same process. It is apparently a very bad flaw and needs to be corrected.
