Children Leave Their Mark in Stone, BB Shot Through a Window and Several Vehicles Burglarized

Theft and property damage incidents taken from the Elmhurst police reports.

Property Damage

A witness saw some children cutting their names into an uncured concrete sidewalk the city had just poured on the 100 block of Maple at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 12. The witness spoke the the children's father, who was standing nearby and allowing the children to proceed. The witness had a verbal altercation with the man who, after talking to police, agreed to pay for the damage.

Someone shot a BB through a front window on the 200 block of Kimball between 5 p.m. Nov. 12 and 12:26 p.m. Nov. 13. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Someone spray-painted the dead-end sign at Willow and North End sometime before 7:06 p.m. Nov. 15.

Someone dented the hood of a vehicle that was parked on the 600 block of Fairfield between 6 p.m. Nov. 17 and 8 a.m. Nov. 18.

Someone tore the door and lock off a locked fire extinguisher cabinet at 175 W. First St. between 2 p.m. Nov. 17 and 2:35 p.m. Nov. 18 and removed the fire extinguisher. The door and lock were recovered in a garbage can. Damage is estimated at $75 to $80.

Someone damaged the rear passenger side window molding on a vehicle parked at Courts Plus, 186 S. West Ave., at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Damage is estimated at $500.

Theft

Someone removed a bicycle from a garage on the 100 block of North Maple between 7 p.m. Nov. 18 and 1 p.m. Nov. 19.

Someone broke the front passenger side window of a white 2002 Acura sport utility vehicle parked at Ed Napleton Acura, 745 W. Lake St., between 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7 a.m. Nov. 21. $15 was missing from the vehicle; damage is estimated at $200.

Someone removed a red Samsung Intensity cell phone from a locker at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15. Loss is estimated at $200.
