Car Stolen From Driveway While it Warms Up, and a Cautionary Tale About Synthetic Marijuana

Stolen Vehicle

A resident on the 200 block of West Kimbell started his red Toyota Corolla while it was parked in his driveway at 6:02 p.m. Jan. 14 to warm it up. He went back inside his home. When he came back out a few minutes later, he saw a man in his 20s wearing a dark coat and hat in the drivers seat. The offender backed out of the driveway and took off westbound on Kimbell. The victim lost sight of the vehicle when it got to Walnut and called 911 immediately. The vehicle was entered into the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System as stolen.

While assisting an overdose victim at 1:14 a.m. Jan. 14, police learned that the victim had recently smoked synthetic marijuana. He approached officers and began talking about the devil, demons and angels. He also said he had been chased by ligers (a lion/tiger cross-breed). The synthetic marijuana he said he smoked goes by the name Wicked X. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
