The car that hit a pole in front of Jewel-Osco in South Elmhurst Saturday afternoon was involved in a car-versus-car accident in the parking lot prior to hitting the barrier, Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth said.

"One of the cars then struck a pole in front of the Jewel," Ruth said. "A 68-year-old female was transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital with minor injuries."
