Burglars Make Off With $2,000 From Jersey Mike's

Burglary occurred in the overnight hours Monday night.

Burglars made off with nearly $2,000 after breaking into Jersey Mike's, 297 N. York St., between 9:55 p.m. Aug. 27 and 6:46 a.m. Aug. 28.

Police said the offender forced open a rear door, managed to break open a fire safe and removed $1,829. The suspect also emptied a bottle of vinegar inside the safe.  Employee personnel files were disturbed, and a surveillance camera at the rear of the building had been moved at 3:01 a.m. so that it wouldn't show the back door. Other surveillance footage shows a single suspect inside the store.

Damage to the safe is estimated at $1,000, and damage to the rear door is $100.
