Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Elmhurst Monday Now Faces Charges in Two Counties

The so-called "Salon Bandit," already charged with 11 counts of armed robbery for crimes he allegedly committed in Chicago and the north suburbs, has now been charged with similar crimes in DuPage County.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, Bensenville Police Chief Frank Kosman, Glen Ellyn Police Chief Philip Norton and Lombard Police Chief Ray Byrne announced today that charges have been filed against Jason Logsdon, 41, of 900 Chicago Ave., Evanston, for allegedly robbing four DuPage County businesses in the past two months. He was arrested on Monday in Elmhurst.

Logsdon allegedly entered each establishment disguised and armed with a pellet gun. Once inside the stores, prosecutors say he pointed his gun at the clerk and demanded money, then fled the scene on foot. The businesses Logsdon is accused of robbing are:

• Smokers Best on York Road in Bensenville at 9:55 a.m. Dec, 26
• Sport Clips on Roosevelt Road in Lombard at 6:11 p.m. Dec. 27
• Hair Cuttery on Roosevelt Road in Lombard at 10:42 a.m. Jan. 2
• Great Clips on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn at 10:50 a.m. Jan. 3

In each of the robberies, store personnel immediately contacted their local police departments. An investigation conducted by numerous law enforcement agencies throughout the Chicago area led to Logsdon’s arrest in Elmhurst on Monday, Feb. 4. He was reportedly driving the vehicle used in the robberies.

“Mr. Logsdon’s alleged crime spree knew no boundaries,” Berlin said. “He allegedly went where he thought the easy money would be. This case is a perfect example of how, by working together and pooling our information and resources, law enforcement agencies can arrest and hold responsible those who commit crimes in multiple jurisdictions.”

In DuPage County, Logsdon is charged with four counts of armed robbery, each a Class X Felony punishable by up to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Sentencing guidelines allow for the sentences to be served consecutively, thus Logsdon's maximum sentence would be 120 years.

Logsdon is being held without bond in Cook County Jail following his arrest on more than a dozen alleged similar robberies.
