Adults Step in as Hawthorne Elementary Students are Followed by 50-year-old Man on Bike

Multiple tires slashed on West Avenue sometime on Wednesday.

Suspicious Person

Hawthorne Elementary School students who were walking to school at 8:10 a.m. April 17 were approached by a man about 50 years old riding a bicycle on the 200 block of South Kenilworth. The suspect slowed his bicycle in the street, rode alongside the girls as they walked and stared at them. Two unrelated adults saw what was happening and walked the girls to school. The suspect then got off his bicycle and walked away.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

While on patrol around 4 a.m. April 17, police discovered an unoccupied vehicle without registration parked at 345 Fischer Farm Road. The vehicle reportedly belongs to Baron Royal Express and was stolen out of Elk Grove Village on April 13.

Tires Slashed on Multiple Vehicles

Elmhurst police released six different reports of tires being slashed in the 200 block of North West Avenue. The tires were slashed between 11:30 p.m. April 17 and 6:20 a.m. April 18.

Trespass to Railroad Right of Way

Gregory V. Haskell, 56, 703 W. Liberty, Wheaton, was issued a citation for trespass to railroad right-of-way at Spring Road and the Canadian National Railroad at 6:32 p.m. April 14. Police saw him walking westbound on the rocks next to the tracks. Haskell allegedly told police he was waiting for the PADS shelter to open.

Unlawful Use of a Disability Placard

David Cruz, 60, 150 E. Grand Apt. 205, Elmhurst, was cited for using a disability placard that did not belong to him on the 100 block of East First Street at 8:30 p.m. April 14. He was released on I-bond and the placard was seized.
