Time is Running Out to Vote for Your Favorite Watering Hole!

Elmhurst's St. Patrick's Day Parade has become THE place to be in the suburbs, and it's happening this Saturday, March 10. What is your favorite place to celebrate the holiday?

St. Patrick's Day celebrations kick off a full week early this year. That's because the annual Elmhurst St. Patrick's Day parade will be held this a full week before the official holiday. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend to see every local dignitary and organization (and some from far away), like DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin, various political candidates, the York Marching Band, the Shriners, Irish dancers, and the just to name a few.

So, in the spirit of all things green, Patch wants to know: What is your favorite place to celebrate before, during or after the parade? Do you like to stay close to the parade route, or head toward downtown? Is the parade purely a family event for you? Will you be doing it all again on March 17?

Find you favorite Elmhurst watering hole in the list below, click on it to leave a review and a rating (up to five stars) in our directory, and be sure to leave a comment. If you don't see your favorite here, let us know in the comments and we'll add it.

Voting is open until 9 a.m. Friday. A winner will be determined based on the most positive comments, ratings and reviews, and we will announce the winner Friday afternoon.

And, while you're at it, we'd like to know:

I'll be in Church making reparation for all the sins committed on dear Saint Patricks feast day.

I am going to the parade. It represents the beginning of the spring season, fun, community, and celebration. I wish the police would cut a little slack on parking enforcement.

I'll be at the parade --in my tiara! I hope to see lots of people there, otherwise I'll just be waving to thin air. I think the parade is a wonderful tradition that casts Elmhurst in a very positive light as THE destination for St. Patrick's Day parades and celebrations. It's a great opportunity to show other communities just how great we are!

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

A couple of years ago, Villa Park installed "State Law- must stop for pedestrians" signsRead More on the roadways where the Great Western and Prairie Paths cross. I saw a big increase in path users barreling across the streets with no regard for the stop signs on the path.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.

It would be nice if Elmhurst had a stadium with minor league teams and also as a venue for concertsRead More of this quality. Any Alderman want to weigh in on this?
