Bullying in District 205
Is anyone in our community aware that there is considerable bullying going on in our schools and in our community? I'm primarily concerned with children but, it exists among adults in our community as well. It is a very serious problem, beginning as early as 2 and 3 years of age. I have witnessed it first hand. It exists among girls and boys and often the parents as well. I have heard of instances where the parent of the child who is being bullied initiates a conversation with the parent of the bully. The parent of the bully does nothing. I hear "boys will be boys," girls will be girls" and "kids will be kids." This is true to some extent but, many times there are boundaries crossed taking it to another level. I have seen women bullying other women on chat sites, men and women in cars bullying young and old alike. I know these are very stressful times but, what is going on? I would recommend all parents, grandparents, teachers, administrators, everyone watch a documentary titled "Bully." If you have already seen it then watch it again and find a way to get involved. It is up to our schools, up to the parents and up to our community to make a difference. Come on people wake up.
