Death Notices: Edwyna Newman, Norma Jean Collins Orlando, Dennis Kolzow

Long-time Elmhurst residents remembered for service to country, professional contributions and much more.

Edwyna P. Newman

Edwyna P. Newman, a resident of Elmhurst for more than 60 years, died at Lexington Healthcare Center on May 10.

She worked as an executive secretary at American Can Co. Research Division during World War II and the Korean conflict when they created and designed K-rations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene. She's survived by her son, Edward, and her three grandsons.

Visitation will be at 7 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst.

Norma Jean Collins Orlando

Norma Jean Collins Orlando, 84, a former longtime resident of Elmhurst, has died.

She was a retired psychologist and active as a playwright with the Chicago Dramatist Theatre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Paul. She is survived by her siblings and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst.

Dennis Kolzow

Dennis W. Kolzow, a former long-time resident of Elmhurst, died on May 6 in Naperville.

He served in the 43rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in general engineering. He retired in 1983 from Hawthorne Works of Western Electric after 33 years.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
