Is Your Home Ready For Summer?

Keeping your home well maintained is the best way to prolong its life and keep its value high. Follow these simple tips to keep things tip top at your house.

A big part of home ownership is home maintenance. Just like your car, you have to keep your home “serviced” to keep it in tip top shape and keep the value of your home as high as possible. As the seasons change there are certain things that should be done around the house.

According to Jeff Henson, Owner of Homeowner Helper, Inc, the best thing you can do for your home is to inspect it and keep watch for problems. 1. Power wash the wood exterior of your home to remove built up dirt, mold and mildew. Removing all of this debris will help the longevity of the wood and brighten the home’s exterior.
  2. Make sure that all of your gutters are clear and be sure that the water is directed away from the house. Keeping the gutters clear avoids leaks into your home and directing the water from the house helps to prevent seepage and the formation of mold from standing water against your home.
  3. Have your A/C unit cleaned and checked and change the filter. These steps will prolong the life of your A/C unit, cut down on Allergens and keep your A/C running efficiently saving you money on your electric bill.
  4. Treat the perimeter of your home with a non-toxic insecticide to keep the pests from getting into your home.

These simple and inexpensive steps done upfront can save you a lot of money later.
