Spring on Spring Road Means Furry, Scaly, Feathered Fun

The Spring Road Pet Parade is this Saturday, May 19.

It almost time for the Spring Road Pet Parade!

In just a few short days, on Saturday, May 19, dogs, birds, cats, fish, hamsters and other beloved pets will gather at the Ahlgrim Funeral Home parking lot for the 24th annual Pet Parade.

But the fun starts way before the parade. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., kids can enjoy lots of free activities, including a moon jump, face tattoos and bike decorating. Free pet portraits also will be offered.

Kids on bikes will be the first group in the parade, followed by exotic animals, dogs and cats.

Sponsored by the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and The Spring Road Business Association, these organizations will again be accepting items for the Yorkfield Food Pantry, so set aside some canned or boxed goods, toiletries or other nonperishables for donation.

The parade begins at 1 p.m., and pets will be awarded for most obedient, best groomed, best dressed, oldest and more.

Be sure to stick around at the end of the parade, because pets and their owners will be invited to show off their tricks at the Silverado Grill parking lot. A prize will be awarded for most original pet trick.

All pets must register to enter the parade, and there is a special line on the registration form if your pet will be performing a trick.

Tuesday, May 15, is the last day for early registration for the Pet Parade. Through Tuesday, you can drop off your completed registration form at 7 Eleven, 525 Spring Road, or DeVries Animal Hospital, 528 Spring Road. You can also fax it to (630) 833-5227, or email to info@devriesanimalhospital.com.

Otherwise, just bring your completed registration form to the parade on Saturday and drop it off at the Ahlgrim Funeral Home parking lot, 567 Spring.
