Raise a Glass, Give a Cheer, Help a Cause, the Weekend's Here!

Plenty to do this weekend in Elmhurst as we inch our way towards spring.

In addition to all the great museum exhibits and library activities in town—as well as some interesting events outside of town—this weekend you can cheer on our Dukes, take in a play, or play games while donating to really great causes.

For more ideas, check out our calendar. And, as always, tell us what we missed in the comments.

What: Kids' Cheer Clinic and York Basketball
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. Friday at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road
Why Go: The York High School cheerleaders will train their mini-counterparts in grades kindergarten through eight at a Cheer Clinic beginning at 4 p.m. The girls will be ready to entertain during halftime of the boys basketball game, which begins at 7:30 p.m. versus Downers Grove North. The event benefits Relay for Life of Elmhurst.

What: "How the West Was Done In"
When/Where: 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Angelo's Ristorante, 247 N. York St.
Why Go: It's a murder-mystery by Green Man Theatre! "How the West Was Done In" takes place on a 1960s Hollywood western movie set. The veteran director and his crew are behind schedule as they deal with jealous and egotistical actors as well as two British hippies who wander onto the set. Amid the chaos, someone ends up dead. Before the Hollywood detective reveals the guilty party, the audience will play sleuth and see if they can guess who committed the crime.
Cost: $50

What: "Bye Bye Birdie"
When/Where: 7 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Bryan Middle School, 111 W. Butterfield Road
Why Go: 46 cast members in fifth through eighth grade will perform this satire on American society set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. Rousing musical numbers and a great score.
Cost: $7 for adults, $6 for students and seniors at the door

What: Casino Night Fund-raiser
