Cougars 14U-Blue Continues to Roll

Cougars turn in an impressive performance in Glen Ellyn.

Story by: Joe and Mona Giralamo.

Last weekend at the Glen Ellyn Classic Tournament, the Elmhurst Cougar Blue 14u team finished 2nd out of a field of 16 teams overcoming bad weather and injuries to take home another trophy. The weekend started out with a 9 - 0 Cougar rain shortened victory over the Glen Ellyn Rebels Red team. The Cougars then defeated the LaGrange Lions and Wheaton Warriors on Saturday. Sunday brought two more Cougar victories, as the Cougars defeated Glen Ellyn, before beating the Naperville White Sox Black in the semi-finals. Ultimately, the Cougars were unable to overcome an offensive explosion by Team Demarini in the Championship Game to finish as the Tournament Runner Up. This was the second time in four tournaments this year that the Elmhurst Cougar Blue 14u team has made it to the Championship game and the fifth time over the last two years. Cougar Blue is now 4 and 1 in Championship games and with two more tournaments scheduled before the season ends, the Cougars hope to continue their winning ways.
