For the second year in a row, York High School has been named one of 123 GRAMMY Signature Schools semifinalists nationwide by the GRAMMY Foundation, York Performing and Visual Arts Division Chairman Bill Riddle said.
The foundation is part of the well-known Recording Academy's GRAMMY Awards program and recognizes top U.S. public high schools making an outstanding commitment to music education.
Neil Portnow is president and CEO of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.
"Each of these semifinalist schools should be commended for their commitment to keeping the arts in their curriculum for the long term benefits of their students," he said.
The GRAMMY Foundation will announce the finalists in mid-March. Last school year, York was named one of three National GRAMMY Signature School Gold Finalists in the country and received $5,500 to benefit its music program.
