The Weekend is Upon Us: Puppets, Pancakes and 'Sleeping Beauty'

Or, perhaps, a concert; will it be Dave Matthews music or Elmhurst Symphony?

There's something for everyone this weekend, from garage sales to . Here are a few things we thought looked interesting. For more, check out our calendar and, as always, tell us what we missed in the comments.

What/where: , 7:30 p.m. Friday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave.
Why go: This one's pretty much just for the kids. But it's by the kids, too. Talented middle and high schoolers have been working on this rousing show for awhile now. Come and see "Bear Feels Sad," No Such Thing" and "The Case of the Missing Sheep."
Cost: Free

What/where: , 10 p.m. Friday at Fitz's Spare Keys, 119 N. York
Why go: Dave Matthews music. What more do you need to know?
Cost: $7, $5 with a college ID

What/where: Kiwanis Pancake Day, 6 a.m. to noon Saturday at , 345 E. St. Charles Road
Why go: Kiwanis donates as much as $30,000 a year to families in need, and members support many community service programs in Elmhurst and DuPage County. This event raises money through sponsorships.
Cost: Pancake Day is now free for the community, but donations are accepted any time.

What/where: , 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at , 315 E. St. Charles
Why go: This sale will benefit the , an organization dedicated to giving assistance to people right here in town. Donations for the sale can be dropped off on Friday, May 11 at Bethel from noon to 6 p.m.
Cost: Free, but buy, buy, buy

What/where: , 7 p.m. Saturday at , 149 W. Brush Hill Road
Why go: This is Elmhurst Symphony's season finale. Inna Faliks will return to the ESO, this time as one of the most in-demand pianists of her generation. Concertgoers are invited to attend a full-course pre-concert buffet dinner at 5 p.m. in the Oak Room of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for $35 per person or $65 per couple.
Cost: The concert is $31 for adults, $7 for students. Click here.

What/where: 7 p.m. Saturday at Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road
Why go: This Disney classic, as interpreted by Elmhurst Dance Theatre students ages 12 to 18, is perfect for the entire family.
Cost: $10, $7 for children 12 and under
