Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry Stocked Thanks to Elmhurst College Frat

These boys don't mess around.

Members of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Elmhurst College collected nearly 3,000 pounds of food and nearly $350 in cash from Elmhurst residents to benefit the Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry. The fraternity’s twice annual nationwide service project helps families in need in the immediate area, with the pantry serving residents of Elmhurst, Addison, Bensenville, Berkeley, Hillside, Lombard, Oak Brook and Villa Park at its facility at 1083 S. York Road, Elmhurst.

“Thanks to the residents who donated and the fraternity men who collected the food,” said Jacki Lawrence, co-director of the food pantry. “The amount collected makes it possible for the food pantry to forego a whole order from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, allowing the pantry to stretch its funds even further and serve more people.”

Demand for the Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry’s services continues to grow with 160 new families served in the last 2-4 months.
