Kick off for Kids has offer too sweet to refuse

All runners, novice to advanced, are welcome to grab an offer too sweet to refuse. Elmhurst fundraising group, Kick off For Kids, is forming a new running team to raise funds.  Good for your heart and soul - while you’re raising money for a worthy cause, you’ll be training for an event dubbed, “Chicago’s Sweetest Race” starting at Grant Park on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011.

Elmhurst’s own champion runner, Charlie Kern, will lead the eight-week training program, guiding runners to compete in the 5K or 15K Hot Chocolate run.  For $100 per person, team members will train directly under Kern, receive free clinics on nutrition, proper shoe fitting, special discounts at The Runner’s Soul, a free evaluation at Olympic Chiropractic and Physical Therapy and transportation to and from the race.

Individual registration for the Hot Chocolate 5k or 15K is required at the Hot Chocolate website www.hotchocolate15K.com.  Registration is limited and participants will receive awesome goodie bags including a reflective and water resistant Hot Chocolate running jacket, and entrance to the post-race party complete with hot chocolate and chocolate fondue.

Since 2009, various KOK running clubs have raised over $17,000. The goal this year is to raise $10,000, thanks to participation fees and other donations along the way. Overall, since 2001, KOK has raised over $500,000 for local children and programs in need..
