Community Corner

Human Trafficking in Chicago and its Suburbs - presented by AAUW Elmhurst

Jody Raphael, author and Senior Research Fellow at DePaul University College of Law, and Brenda Meyers-Powell, a former victim and survivor of the sex trade, will illuminate the reality of this growing problem.  Jody's research reveals startling facts about how girls become entrapped in prostitution in our own communities.  Brenda brings not only her past experiences to bear but her advocacy work through the Cook County Sheriff's office and the Dreamcatcher Foundation.

Police Chief Steven Neubauer will be present to join in the discussion at the end of the presentations.  The public is welcome.

AAUW is a national organization which advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
