Elmhurst Volunteers to be Recognized at 14th Annual Service Awards Program

The Elmhurst City Council, Commission on Youth, Senior Citizens Commission, and Character Counts in Elmhurst will present the 14th annual City of Elmhurst Character Counts Service Awards for Youth and Adults on Wednesday, March 21.

Twenty-three individual youth volunteers, 20 adult volunteers and six groups will be recognized for demonstrating the following criteria through volunteer service: exemplary commitment; providing for the health and well being of the community at large; and promoting the spirit of volunteerism.

Nominees were required to be at least 12 years of age; service had to be both voluntary and unpaid. These awards are focused on individual achievement.  However, individuals who perform community service as part of a group were also eligible for nomination. Selection of exemplary volunteers takes place through a blind review process and those recipients will be further honored with a plaque.
