When Do Courts Order Involuntary Commitment and Involuntary Medication for persons suffering from Mental Illness?

Marcia Horan will speak on the Involuntary Commitment and Involuntary Medication process under the Illinois Mental Health Code.  Ms. Horan is an Assistant State's Attorney in the Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Unit in Cook County Illinois, and conducts hearings on Petitions for Involuntary Commitment and Petitions for the Involuntary Administration of Authorized Medication filed by hospitals in Cook County, Illinois.  In addition to working for the States Attorney's Office, Ms. Horan's background includes experience in estate planning and guardianship, as well as spending many years in representing clients in the area of real estate tax objections.  This event is free and registration is not necessary.  Sponsored by NAMI Metro-Suburban, an advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental illness, their family, and their friends, within west suburban Cook County.
