Heritage Day at Fischer Farm and Churchville Schoolhouse

Explore the Buildings, Touch the Artifacts.  Connect with History.

A community-wide celebration of fall and local history at Fischer Farm and the

Churchville Schoolhouse. Ride a complimentary shuttle between the two adjacent

historical sites for fun and engaging family activities.


At
Fischer Farm:
 Tour the historic buildings and browse the

Civil War and period artifacts.   Other complimentary event highlights include kids
crafts, a showcase of local artists and crafters, the country sounds of the
White Saddle Band, Ft. Dearborn Militia and Taylor’s Battery First Illinois

Light Artillery, Co. B.  Historical
features also include Civil War re-enactors and firing of the canon on the hour.
Picnic fare will be available for purchase, plus a $5 wristband is available
(kids under 12) for pony rides, inflatables, petting zoo, and one pumpkin per
child.




At the Churchville Schoolhouse:

Tour the Churchville Schoolhouse, meet school marm Esther Fischer to find out
how schoolchildren learned in the Roaring ‘20s, participate in a spelling bee,
see vintage Model Ts and the City of Elmhurst’s antique 1921 fire truck, and
hear live music of the 1920s-30s era. All activities are free at Schoolhouse.
