Free Comic Book Day May 3rd
If you are a fan of comic books or want to
encourage children to read the original form of Captain America, Spiderman, Batman and more, you'll be happy to hear that Free Comic Book
Day is May 3rd.
Free Comic Book Day, created in 2002, always
falls on the first Saturday in May. One Stop Comics specialty store will give
away at least two free comic books to anyone who visits their shop that
day. Retailers, publishers, suppliers and
distributors work together to make certain comics free in an effort to reward
comic book veterans and draw in new fans on this day.
In Oak Park, One Stop
Comics will offer free
comics after opening at 10 a.m. Owner Rick Manzella recently returned from the
Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo after purchasing plenty of comics to give
away this weekend."Having over 8,000 comics when i was 8
years old, I make sure we have enough comic books for everyone to enjoy,"
Rick said. Popular titles this year are expected to be a DC THE NEW 52 FUTURES END SPEC ED, a Marvel comic GUARDIANS OF GALAXY and Marvels ALL ROCKET RACCOON. In all over 75 different free comic book day
comics will be offered along with thousands of other comics that rick has
accumulated over the years.. The store will have 50 percent off many Marvel
graphic novel collections, including Avengers, and Discounts on most other
product .people who spend money will get additional free comics and other comic
related items. "It allows people to check out the every-changing
world of comics," Manzella said.
