EMILY DEMUTH ISHIDA BOOK SIGNING - BARNES & NOBLE

Emily Demuth Ishida will be holding a book signing at Barnes & Noble, Oakbrook Mall, on December 10, 2012. Mrs. Ishida will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to answer all your questions about the Plank Road and personalize your books!

Emily Demuth Ishida co-authored the historical novel Plank Road Winter with her sister Hilda Demuth. Plank Road Winter is set in post-Civil War rural Wisconsin.  Come along for the adventures of 13-year-old Sophie, who longs for excitement beyond her country home,  and 12-year-old Hans,  as he escapes the Great Chicago Fire and learns to accept loss and face the future.

Plank Road Winter is a sequel to Plank Road Summer, a historical novel set in Yorkville, Wisconsin about two pioneer girls who become involved in the Underground Railroad.  The Demuth sisters grew up in the Yorkville community and have lovingly written this series of books exploring the hardship and wonders of the Plank Road community in southern Wisconsin in the mid to late 1800s.

Mrs. Ishida is an Elmhurst resident, a York parent and member of the York Music Parents Association (YMPA).  Emily’s three children, David, Hans-Martin and Louisa have all been very involved in the York Band program. Mrs. Ishida’s book signing coincides with the YMPA Book Fair on the same date at Barnes & Noble during which Barnes & Noble is donating a portion of its proceeds to YMPA.  Customers just need to mention York Music and their purchases will be included in the Barnes & Noble donation.
