Community Corner

Christian Unity Week Service

Come and join the churches of Elmhurst in celebrating the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity with an Ecumenical Worship Service on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ (UCC). The Church is located at 125 W. Church Street, the Northeast corner of Cottage Hill and Church Street in Elmhurst.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend. The various churches usually worship separately, but they share a common gospel and mission. The January 23 service will celebrate that mission and is designed to strengthen their unity by coming together. The global theme for this year was prepared in solidarity with the Dalit Christians of India:  “This is what Yahweh asks of you:  to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with your God.”

The service has been planned by a number of churches in the community. Members of all Elmhurst churches and neighboring communities have been invited and many are expected to participate.
