Auditions for "Doubtful Abbey" at GreenMan Theatre

GreenMan Theatre announces auditions for "Doubtful Abbey: Murder and Mayhem at Fussworthy Manor." This production, written and directed by Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff, serves as GreenMan's 2013-2014 dinner theatre murder musical mystery fundraiser held at Angelo's Ristorante in Elmhurst from February 21-March 2, 2014. There are roles for 9 men and 9 women.

Auditions will be held on Sunday December 15 at 1 PM & Monday December 16 at 7 PM in Asbury Hall at First United Methodist Church at 232 S. York in Elmhurst. Appointments are not required to audition. Auditions will consist of cold readings as well as some possible improvisation. Not all those who audition will be required to sing a solo, but those who desire a part with a solo, please prepare a song. A CD player will be available to those who bring musical accompaniment. Though the show is set in the 1930's, audition songs needn't necessarily be from that time period. Those not interested in a solo should prepare a line or two from any song to allow the musical director to hear their singing abilities. There are parts in the show for actors who don't consider themselves to be singers. Rehearsals would begin in early January. There is no pay.

"Doubtful Abbey: Murder and Mayhem at Fussworthy Manor" is set on the palatial estate of the Fussworthys in Britain during World War II. Guests are gathered for a birthday party for the Dowager Duchess, Lady Dolores Fussworthy. The event is also, unbeknownst to the hosts, a gathering to raise funds for a West End musical. A jewel heist and murder ensue.

GreenMan programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. Financial support provided by the City of Elmhurst Community Grant Program.
