Special Kids Day Presents Park District with 2014 Star Award

Since 2009, Special Kids Day volunteers have hosted a holiday party at Wilder Mansion for approximately 500 children with special needs, their siblings and families.

Children whose circumstances may include autism, CP, Down syndrome, Asperger’s, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, juvenile arthritis, asthma, and other conditions are able to visit with Santa in an obstacle-free environment designed for their unique needs.

The Elmhurst Park District was honored to receive the 2014 Star Award for its efforts at the Mansion from Special Kids Day Chairman Rich Rosenberg.  According to Rosenberg, the Park District’s efforts “…go beyond bricks and mortar.

It’s about the people.”  Special Kids Day’s 25th Anniversary holiday party will be held on December 3, 2014 at Wilder Mansion.  For more information about Special Kids Day, visit http://www.specialkidsday.org/index.html.
