Wondering What to do with That Wilted Christmas Tree?

City is offering free pickup over the next couple of weeks.

Time to say good-bye to another holiday season—and another Christmas tree.

Elmhurst residents can put their trees out on the curb, without a refuse sticker, on their normal collection day during the first and second weeks in January. Just make sure to remove all ornaments, lights and nails. Do not put trees in plastic bags.

Holiday wreaths, garlands, wrapping paper and packing peanuts may be discarded with regular household refuse. Gift boxes that measure no more than three feet by three feet are recyclable if flattened and bundled or bagged.

And, garbage collection will be delayed one day again this week.
