Tree Branches Down, About 1,000 Elmhurst Customers Without Power After Early Morning Storm

Some large tree branches are down, and the ComEd outage map is showing just more than 1,000 customers are without power in Elmhurst after a storm packing more than 60 mile-an-hour winds and heavy rain blew through town Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service at about 6 a.m. indicated a strong line of storms approaching DuPage County at a rate of 55 miles per hour. As of 7 a.m., the storm had mostly moved through the area, but light rain is expected to continue throughout the morning.

Weather Outlook for DuPage County

Showers and thunderstorms that brought temperatures in the 70s will end by 11 a.m. However the temperature is expected to climb back up to 86 later in the afternoon. A 40 percent chance of storms is predicted for Tuesday night after midnight. Low will be around 72 degrees.

After a 30 percent chance of rain on Wednesday, before 10 a.m., the Chicago area is back to oppressive heat conditions, with a high near 97. A 50 percent chance of rain is predicted Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The weekend looks nearly perfect. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be mostly sunny with highs in the lower to mid-80s.
