Time Capsule is Placed in the Main Lobby of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital
Will they still be giving out those little pink elephants in 2076?
To commemorate the grand opening of the a time capsule has been placed inside a wall in the main lobby. The time capsule is accompanied by a plaque with instructions that it is to be opened in 2076, the 150th anniversary of the founding of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Sealed in the time capsule are letters from employees and physicians, as well as Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare leadership, including President and CEO W. Peter Daniels; former President and CEO Leo Fronza; Robert Soukup, Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare Board chairman; and Joel Herter, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Board chairman. Items representing the Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare Board of Governors, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation were also placed in the time capsule.
A number of photos from the grand opening celebrations were included, along with keepsakes, such as a piece of ribbon from the ribbon cutting ceremony and signature scrolls signed by hundreds of people associated with the health system.

The time capsule also includes items of historical significance, such as a brick from the hospital’s original building, which opened in 1926, and a medallion from the hospital’s 50th anniversary.
The new hospital, which o features 259 private inpatient suites in an easy-to-navigate environment. Built from the ground up to incorporate the latest trends in healthcare design, the 866,000-square-foot facility features a state-of-the-art Emergency Department with private rooms, spacious surgical suites and the latest in medical technology.
