Remember That White Stuff? Here It Comes.

Elmhurst is part of a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 23, through 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. And, honestly, we can't complain since this is only about the third snow this entire winter.

Rain is expected to change to wet snow across the Chicago area early Thursday evening, and then turn into the sticky stuff.

"Snow may become heavy at times during the evening and overnight hours before gradually tapering in intensity into early Friday morning," the advisory states.

Accumulations of 4 to 7 inches, with the greatest amounts across DuPage, Northern Cook and southern Lake counties, is expected. After 8 p.m., snow could fall at a rate of an inch an hour in some areas, resulting in quick accumulation and making roads hazardous. Strong winds also are expected, diminishing visibility.

We may even get a return of everyone's favorite: Thundersnow!

It will all be a distant memory by Sunday, when the temperature is again going to approach 50 degrees. Even Friday's high is kind of warm for snow, so there may not be much time to hit the sled hills.
