Julie D'Agostino's Inspiring Journey Will be Shared on the Big Screen at York Theatre Monday

Elmhurst resident's long struggle with cystic fibrosis is an inspiration for all.

Elmhurst resident Julie D'Agostino has had an uphill climb her entire life—one that literally took her breath away. Her battle with cystic fibrosis has landed her in the hospital more times than she can count, and the disease nearly took her life.

But a double-lung transplant about six months ago gave the 19-year-old a new start—a chance to breathe freely for the first time.

Elmhurst film-maker Giancarlo Iannotta, who grew up near D'Agostino, has created a documentary about her struggles and how a community came together to support her in recovery and beyond. And now, her story of strength and ultimate triumph can be an inspiration to many.

"Miracle on South Street: The Julie D Story" will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, July 9, at the , 150 N. York St. Admission is free.

This premiere screening will include an introduction to the film by Iannotta and a question-and-answer session after the film with D'Agostino.
