Hypodermic Needles and Round of Ammo Found on Man at Train Station

Wheaton man refused to identify himself, police said.

Timothy Lucas, 53, 705 W. Liberty Drive, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition without a firearm owners identification card, unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes/needles, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing identification after an incident at 7:34 p.m. Jan. 5.

Elmhurst police received a call about a suspicious person at the train station, 128 W. First St. Police said Lucas was "very uncooperative," would not give his name and would not take his hand out of his pocket. Police discovered a knife and a hypodermic needle in his pocket and took him into custody.

A search of Lucas's backback turned up two spoons containing suspect heroin, nine hypodermic needles and one .223 caliber round of ammunition. Lucas reportedly gave a false name at the police department, but police eventually identified him through the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System. He was released on I-bond.
