Are You Ready for the Big Warm Up?

Break out the short pants, at least through the weekend.

December is almost here—the time when Elmhurst kids typically are getting ready for snowball fights and a white Christmas.

But December 2012 is not going to bring any of that fluffy white stuff—or even a winter chill—just yet.

We're still four days out, but the National Weather Service is predicting a Sunday high of 60 degrees. While the kids may not be too thrilled about this, some adults surely are looking forward to the mild weather, if for nothing else than to finish getting those outdoor lights strung.

Here's the forecast:

  • Thursday: Lots of sun, high of 48 degrees, 36 for a low overnight
  • Friday: Clouds roll in and keep temperatures in the mid-40s during the day; look for a low of 39 overnight.
  • Saturday: Ta-da! Here comes the warm-up. Partly sunny with a high of 55 degrees. Overnight low will only drop to 50, but rain is expected (40 percent chance).
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high of 60! Lows in the upper 40s.

The warmer weather could hang around until mid-week next week, with some rain Monday and Tuesday.
