Elmhurst Patch Has a New Look

Not a major overhaul, but hopefully a little more user-friendly. Let us know what you think in the comments.

No, you're not losing it. Elmhurst Patch looks a little different today. We did a quick, visual nip and tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple pieces of furniture. For those keeping score:

  • We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute")
  • We moved the weather icon next to the Patch branding so you can find it more quickly.
  • We moved, well, YOU closer to the top. (Our "shout stream" is now front and center to show all your comments off.)
  • And, of course, we prettified a few things.

While the site might look a little different today, we still offer the same robust coverage of everything happening in your community. That was, is, and will always be our mission.

We hope you'll let us know what you think of our tweaks. Drop us a line at karenc@patch.com, or offer a comment below.

There will be no improvement to the site until to get rid of those annoying pop ups.

I like that the "Post an Event" is easier to find. "Nip and tuck" is exactly the right description for the changes.

Really like the Patch. It's a great source of local news and well written. I read it all the time, but can we lose the pop ups? So distracting :(

Thank you! I can't do anything about the pop ups, but I think you can block them by setting the "preferences" in your browser. My browser of choice for my Mac is Firefox. Click on Firefox, preferences, "block pop ups." In Windows, it's under the "Tools" menu.

Claire, You present a very well thought out understanding of TIFs and your logic is impeccable.

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

A couple of years ago, Villa Park installed "State Law- must stop for pedestrians" signsRead More on the roadways where the Great Western and Prairie Paths cross. I saw a big increase in path users barreling across the streets with no regard for the stop signs on the path.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.
