An Elmhurst Portion of the Illinois Prairie Path Will be Closed for Work Next Month

DuPage County is resurfacing that tricky part of the path that crosses the Canadian National Railroad tracks by Pioneer Park.

DuPage County will soon begin improvements to the Canadian National Railroad pedestrian crossing at the Illinois Prairie Path adjacent to Pioneer Park.

Trail realignment and resurfacing will begin June 5 and is anticipated to take three to five days, weather permitting. During construction, a portion of the Illinois Prairie Path will be detoured through Pioneer Park to Vallette Street, along Vallette to Division Street, and reconnecting with the Prairie Path at the maintenance access point on Division Street. Traffic signals and striping are in place at Vallette and York to assist pedestrian crossing.

The CNRR previously installed safety gates as part of the trail safety improvements. For more information, questions, or comments please contact the DuPage County Department of Transportation (630)407-6900.
