Wirtz Names New Leader for Realty Group

Wirtz Realty Corporation announced today that Don Vitek has been appointed Senior Vice President, responsible for overseeing the company’s full real estate portfolio.

Mr. Vitek is 47-years-old and lives in Elmhurst. He brings nearly three decades of experience in property management to Wirtz’s impressive real estate holdings, which include luxury properties along Chicago’s lakefront, as well as commercial assets throughout the city and suburbs.

Mr. Vitek most recently served as Senior Vice President of the Real Estate Management Group at Draper and Kramer, one of Chicago’s leading residential property management firms. During his 16 years there, Mr. Vitek oversaw more than 35,000 residential units and 4 million square feet of commercial space. He also implemented a number of significant operational changes, improving the property management process, while also overseeing major capital projects, which helped to increase operating income for the portfolio. Mr. Vitek spent more than a decade managing all of the firm’s acquisition and development activities.

He previously worked for Household Commercial, a subsidiary of HSBC, where he built a portfolio and rehabilitated residential properties across seven states, and at Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation. Mr. Vitek, a licensed Illinois managing real estate broker, is a 1988 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in finance.

Wirtz Realty has more than 80 years of expertise in managing and developing luxury apartments and desirable commercial properties. The company is currently in the midst of investing more than $20 million in its residential properties, while also repositioning a major Chicago landmark building at 333 N. Michigan Ave. for future development. It also manages the new $70 million warehouse and office complex in Cicero, Ill. that is home to Wirtz Beverage Corp., as well as a Wirtz Beverage distribution center now under construction in Lexington, Ill.
